TRENT T. SEEGMILLER

Trent Seegmiller, J.D.    Trent was born and raised in Southern Utah where he graduated from Pine View High School as the Business Sterling Scholar.  Trent then attended Dixie College on the Presidential Scholarship where he graduated with an emphasis in business in just one year with his Associates degree.  Following Dixie, Trent spent the next two years in volunteer service in El Salvador where he learned and became fluent in Spanish.  Next, Trent attended Brigham Young University where he graduated from the Marriott School of Business with an emphasis on Finance and a minor in Spanish.  While attending BYU Trent was involved in Community Action and the agencies integrated with Community Action where he taught budgeting, first time home buying, and reverse mortgage classes.  Following BYU, Trent worked at the corporate headquarters of Country Companies Insurance in Bloomington Illinois where he oversaw various financial operations and developed strategies to improve the same.   

    Trent finished his education at the University of Illinois College of Law in Champaign , Illinois.  While studying law, Trent was a member of the Elder Law Journal, and graduated with the honors of being the top student in both Real Estate Transactions and Real Estate Finance, and with the special Pro Bono Notation.  Trent brings his years of education and real life experience as an attorney having represented clients in hundreds of real estate and business transactions.  Trent currently practices law in St. George, Utah, focusing primarily in the areas of business, real estate, and estate planning.   

    Trent taught as an adjunct lecturer at the University of Illinois Business School (2004-2006) and currently is an adjunct lecturer at Dixie State College.  Trent guest lecturers frequently for other courses including Entrepreneurial Finance and other Entrepreneur courses for the Dixie Small Business Alliance.  

    Trent has been involved in many community causes and organizations and can often be found at community events with his family.  He enjoys the outdoors, sports, and getting to know new places and people.  Trent has three adorable and wonderful children and they spend as much time as possible doing fun things outdoors involving gardening, fishing, hiking, and many other games and sports.

EXPERIENCE

 

    As a law student, Trent worked at Montana Legal Services in Missoula, Montana under the supervision of Klaus Sitte.  While at Montana Legal Services Trent handled many cases involving family law issues, landlord/tenant disputes, and other miscellaneous issues for low income clients.  During this time Trent also translated the Montana Driver's Handbook for migrant workers and also worked with Klaus Sitte and the Montana Supreme Court Commission on the provision of legal services to Montana's low income population.  Trent also clerked as a law student for the law firm of Davis and Delanois, P.C. located in Danville, Illinois.  During this time Trent assisted the attorneys there in representing many clients involved in transactional disputes, and many other issues including estate planning and litigation.

 

    After law school, Trent immediately began working with the law firm of McDonald & Heinrich Law Office in Champaign, Illinois.  This firm was a boutique transactional firm with its practice focused primarily on real estate transactions, including real estate zoning, development, owners associations, and other issues related to real estate and title insurance.  During this time period Trent also was involved in assisting many entrepreneurs set their businesses up and or buy existing businesses.  Trent also assisted many clients in setting forth their plans to protect their assets and their estate through estate planning including preparation of wills, trusts (revocable and irrevocable), powers of attorney for health care and property, and living wills.

LANGUAGE.     

    Trent is fluent in Spanish and has represented many hispanic entrepreneurs and clients throughout his practice experience as an attorney.  Trent's clients enjoy speaking spanish with Trent in his representation of their legal needs and feel comfortable hearing their issues and concerns resolved in their native tongue.
