THAD D. SEEGMILLER

Thad D. Seegmiller, J.D.    Thad was born and raised in Washington City, Utah .  Thad attended Pine View High School, where he was elected Student Body President and played on the football and basketball teams.   Thad attended Brigham Young University where he graduated from the Marriott School of Business with a degree in Business Management.  While an undergraduate student, Thad spent his summers working as a Wildland Firefighter for the Bureau of Land Management.  During his BYU years, Thad took a two year break from school to be a volunteer missionary for his church in Maputo, Mozambique.

After completing his undergraduate education at BYU, Thad attended law school at the University of Montana School of Law, in Missoula , Montana .  As a law student, Thad was selected from among the student body to compete on the law school’s American Bar Association Negotiation Team.  As a Negotiation Team member, Thad competed against other law school teams at the University of Missouri Law School and the University of Saskatchewan School of Law in Canada in the Regional Competitions.  Thad and his partner prevailed at the regional competition and subsequently competed at the National Competitions in Los, Angeles , California .

During law school, Thad also gained valuable practical legal experience.  Thad worked part-time as a law clerk with the law firm Datsopoulos, MacDonald, & Lind, P.C., in Missoula Montana .  Thad also volunteered with Montana Legal Services Association, where he was permitted to make appearances and practice law under the Montana Student Practice Rule.  As a student practitioner with Montana Legal Services Association, in addition to many varied legal experiences, Thad obtained summary judgment for his client against a school district’s aggressive attempts to have the client and his home removed from their location.

Thad completed his law education at the University of Montana School of Law and returned to Utah where he passed the Utah State Bar.  After passing the Utah Bar, Thad returned to Southern Utah to practice as an attorney.  In St. George, Thad was employed as an associate attorney by the law firm Clarkson, Draper, & Beckstrom, LLC.  During the year 2009, Thad studied for and passed the Nevada Bar.  In March of 2010, Thad joined Seegmiller Law, PLLC as an attorney.  Thad is licensed to practice law in Utah and Nevada . Though Seegmiller Law’s offices are located in St. George , Utah , Thad’s clients and work take him throughout the state of Utah and Nevada .  Thad’s educational background and alternate dispute resolution training give Thad a very practical and results-oriented approach with his clients.

In addition to practicing law, Thad is actively engaged in the local community where he serves as a Washington City Council Member.  Thad is very interested in being involved with the energy and ideas of the education system.  Thad was recently pleased to be invited to return to Pine View High School as a guest-speaker.  Thad also enjoys coaching youth athletic leagues with his children.

Thad is married to April [ Wadsworth ] Seegmiller, of Highland , Utah .  Thad and April have three children and are expecting their fourth in early 2011.  In their free-time, Thad and April enjoy gardening in their family garden and orchard, working on the family farm, camping, fishing, playing sports with their children, and spending time together while exploring new things and places.
